New open hours and visa agents accreditation

As of Tuesday 1st October 2019, the Consulate-General of Japan in Melbourne will implement a new system accepting Japanese visa applications from registered travel agencies etc.
 

1. As a result of introducing the new visa application system, there will be a change in opening hours for visa applications and visa collections as below.

• Visa Application: 9:00 – 12:30
• Visa Collection: 14:00 – 16:00

We will not accept visa application on collection hours and vice versa.
However, in case of emergency (e.g. Family members involved in an accident in Japan), we will accept applications in the afternoon from Tuesday 1st October to Thursday19th December. We will not accept any applications in the afternoon from Monday 6th January 2020.
The same conditions apply to visa collections which we will not accept outside of collection hours unless under special circumstances.
 

2. From Tuesday 1st October 2019, you will be able to apply for your Japanese visa through travel agencies etc. which are registered with the Consulate. (Registered travel agencies etc. are published on the website of the Consulate-General of Japan in Melbourne.) Please contact the travel agencies etc. directly for this process.

 

3. You will still be able to apply for a Japanese visa yourself after the new system is introduced. Please apply at the Consulate-General of Japan in Melbourne.
